Vietnam-Japan partnership deal promotes bilateral trade

Chief negotiator Phan The Rue of Vietnam has expressed his strong belief that the recently signed Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA) will boost bilateral trade and investments.

Mr Rue said the VJEPA meets the regional motto “Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia”.

Cam Ranh ship builder continues building big tonnage ships

After successfully building and launching the Vinashin Southern 6 ship with the tonnage of 20,000 tonnes, Cam Ranh Shipbuilding Factory (Nha Trang Shipbuilding Industry Co) under the Viet Nam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin) recently signed two contracts worth US$60 million with Vinashin’s Oil and Gas Transportation and Investment Joint Stock Co and the Southern Shipbuilding Industry Investment and Development Co to build two new big ships with the tonnage of 20,000 tonnes and 22,500 tonnes.

The General Statistics Office (GSO) held a press conference in Hanoi on December 31 to announce major socio-economic figures of 2008.

The Viet Nam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) on December 29 announced its revenue of over US$3 billion in 2008, up 17.5% on year.

In 2008, the group contributed VND6.85 trillion (US$401.2 million) to state budget and reported more than 20.2 new telephone users.

Global Trade Initiatives launches sourcing service in Vietnam

Global Trade Initiatives, a well know international sourcing and manufacturing company, today, December 31st, launched a new sourcing company “Sourcing in Vietnam” in Ho Chi Minh City.
