150,000 tonne FSO launched
A floating storage and offloading unit (FSO) which has a capacity of 150,000 tonnes, the FSO5, was successfully launched today by the Nam Trieu Shipbuilding Industrial Corporation. This is the biggest vessel built by Vietnamese shipbuilders so far.
FSO5, built for the Petrovietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), is over 258 metres long, 46 metres wide. It is designed by the UK’s Monobuoy company and Poland’s Sinus company under classification and construction supervision of US’s ABS Registry and Vietnam’s VR Registry.
FSO5 can store and supply crude oil to refinery with an output of 3,500-5,000 cubic metres an hour.
The same day, Nam Trieu Shipbuilding Industrial Corporation started construction of a vessel which can store up to 6,900 cars under order from Norway’s Hoegh Autolines.
