3.2 million new telephone subscribers
Viet Nam had an additional 3.2 million new phone subscribers in January 2009, an increase of over 160% from the same period last year, the General Statistics Office reports.
This means at the end of January 2009, the country has a total of 82.6 million subscribers, including nearly 49 million belonging to the Viet Nam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT).
So far, Viet Nam has 2.1 million broadband Internet subscribers.
