Bac Giang to be an industry-service based province by 2020
The PM has approved a master plan for socio-economic development of B?c Giang Province until 2020. Accordingly, the province will make full use of its resources to speed up economic growth and shift its economic structure to industry and services by 2020.
Under the master plan, B?c Giang must reach an annual economic growth rate of 12% during the period of 2011-2020.
By 2010, industry-construction will account for 35% in the province’s economic structure, services 34.5%, agro-forestry and aquaculture 30.5%. These figures will be 49.2%, 37.1% and 13.7% respectively in 2020.
The most importance is to quickly reduce the poverty rate to the country’s average by 2020.
Ninety percent of schools will be upgraded by 2010, then 100% in 2015.
The number of trained laborers will make up 30% by 2015 and 50% by 2020.
B?c Giang tries to reach a 14.5% growth rate in industry-construction value in the period of 2016-2020, transforming itself from an agricultural province into an industry-service one, with industrial zones and clusters as important economic areas.
Export turnover by 2020 will amount to US $350-500 million.
Furthermore, B?c Giang will form clean hi-tech agricultural production zones for domestic consumption and export. Intensive farming should be implemented to improve the quality of agricultural produce.
The province plans to upgrade, asphalt or concretize 70-80% of communal roads to ensure convenient transportation and facilitate economic development.
The master plan emphasizes the development of urban and residential quarters in the province.
