Cam Ranh ship builder continues building big tonnage ships
After successfully building and launching the Vinashin Southern 6 ship with the tonnage of 20,000 tonnes, Cam Ranh Shipbuilding Factory (Nha Trang Shipbuilding Industry Co) under the Viet Nam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin) recently signed two contracts worth US$60 million with Vinashin’s Oil and Gas Transportation and Investment Joint Stock Co and the Southern Shipbuilding Industry Investment and Development Co to build two new big ships with the tonnage of 20,000 tonnes and 22,500 tonnes.
The 20,000 tonnage freighter has the length of 165.45 metres, 12 metres in height and 25 metres in width and the 22,500 tonnage freighter is 153.2 metres in length, 26 metres in width and 13.75 metres in height.
These ships are expected to be complete by 2010.
