The international railway route between Hanoi (Viet Nam) and Nanning (China) will open as of January 1, 2009, according to the Viet Nam Railway Corporation (VRC).

The train has 6 railroad cars. The MR1 train will depart from Gia Lam station at 7.25pm (local time) and arrive in Nanning at 9.50am next day and the MR2 train will start in Nanning at 5.15pm and get in Gia Lam station at 5.30am next day.

Initially, the VRC will not sell return tickets or transport goods on consignment. However, passengers can book tickets three hours in advance and a group comprising at least 6 persons will receive a 25% discount.
