Industrial production drops in January
January’s industrial production is estimated to decrease by 4.4% over the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office.
The state-owned sector saw a reduction of 8.5%, the non-state sector posted a fall of 2.8% and the foreign-invested sector reported a drop of 3.2%.
Southern industrial hubs, such as Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho registered low growth rates of 1.9%, 0.3% and 0.2%, respectively.
A number of northern provinces including Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho and Quang Ninh reported a sharp reduction in industrial production.
