Maritime expo to open this week

VNBusinessNews – The international exhibition Maritime Viet Nam 2009 is scheduled to open on Wednesday in HCM City to showcase products and services in shipbuilding, maritime engineering, offshore engineering, ports and logistics.

With strong representation in seven pavilions from China, Germany, Holland South Korea, Norway, Singapore and the UK, the maritime event will offer extensive business platform for networking opportunities and technology transfer, according to Pham Quynh Giang, deputy general director for Vinexad.

Vinexad has joined hands with Singapore’s firm IIR Exhibitions to organise the event.

To be held from February 25-29 at the new Sai Gon Exhibition&Convention Centre, the expo will feature some 300 participating companies from around 20 countries and territories, double the figure of the previous event in 2006.

There will be a seminar programme during the exhibition to address critical and timely challenges, trends and developments facing the Viet Nam maritime industry.

Some of the key topics that will be tackled include managing financial risk in shipping, critical issues confronting Viet Nam port development and plans, global maritime industry and its impact on Viet Nam, and the country’s sea ports development.

Speakers from Australia, Holland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and the UK will share their knowledge and expertise with local participants.

In addition, there will be a study tour to Tan Cang Port, Sai Gon Shipyard Company and Sai Gon Shipbuilding Industry on the final day. (VNS)
