Vietnam to earn $ 1.6 bn from rubber exports
Viet Nam is expected to earn 1.6 billion U.S. dollars from rubber exports for the entire year 2008, surpassing the target of 1.45 billion dollars.
According to Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, the country’s rubber industry, with the current cultivation area of 601,800 hectares, is expected to ship 644,200 tons of rubber in 2008.
Viet Nam is expected to make shipment of 900,000 tons of rubber in 2010, reaping rubber export turnover of about 2 billion dollars, an year-on-year increase of 13.4 percent on average, said the ministry.
However, the country’s rubber exports activities are facing a number of difficulties in dealing with new trade regulations after Vietnam’s entry to the World Trade Organization.
