Vinacomin invests $8 million to improve environment

The State-owned Viet Nam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (Vinacomin) has begun to dredge some lakes in the northern province of Quang Ninh that have been polluted because of illegal coal mining in their vicinity.

Cau Cuon, Noi Hoang, and Khe Uon Lakes in Dong Trieu district will be deepened and have treatment systems installed, all at a cost of VND140 billion ($8 million).

The work, that began December 29, will result in the water finally being used for irrigation and improving the environment.
