How did the writing process for Medium Raw differ this time around?
I’m living a very different life for sure. I travel around the world doing pretty much whatever I want, but I have to make a large number of TV shows a year, I have a lot of speaking engagements. I still don’t have time to write a book. When I write a book, I wake up early in the morning and write in a state of terror, much in the same way that I did when I wrote Kitchen Confidential. So, you know, maybe I’m subconsciously creating that pressure for myself, knowing that if I had time to stare at the ceiling and contemplate the mysteries of life and agonize over every sentence, I’d never get any work done. I’d edit myself out of existence.
