Portion of highway to be named for Vietnam soldierA portion of Tenn. 142 at Stantonville is being named for the late Cleaburn Hill Jr., killed in Vietnam in May 1969.A dedication program will be held at Stantonville Civic Center at 9 a.m. Sept. 25. The public is invited.Rep. Vance Dennis and McNairy County Mayor Jai Templeton will assist with the presentation. The unveiling of signs will follow the ceremony.The road honoring Pvt. For more information, call Tommy Wooley at 608-1685.Hardin County woman charged with fraudA Hardin County woman has been charged in Hardeman County with TennCare fraud involving the resale of prescription medication, according to a news release.The Office of Inspector General on Friday announced that 50-year old Darlene F. Hottiman, of Savannah, has been indicted on one count of TennCare fraud.Hottiman is accused of using TennCare benefits to obtain a prescription for the anti-anxiety medication Xanax and concealing the fact that she planned to sell a portion of the pills. The Hardeman County Sheriff’s Department assisted the inspector general with Hottiman’s arrest.If convicted, Hottiman could spend up to two years in prison. District Attorney General Michael Dunavant will prosecute.Fire station open houseThere will be an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Jackson Fire Department Station No. 4. The station was flooded out in the heavy rains of early May but is back up and running. The fire house is at 1526 S. Highland Ave., near South Side High School.Gospel competition setThe West Tennessee Sweet Sounds gospel singing competition will be held tonight in the auditorium at Liberty Technology Magnet High School, at 3470 Ridgecrest Road Extended in Jackson.Doors open at 5:30 p.m., according to a news release. Tickets are $12 at the door. The show starts at 6 p.m.
