Vietnam Airlines is being forced to pay up to 10,000 dollars after a passenger opened an emergency exit before the flight came to complete halt.
Touching down at Ho Chi Minh City last week, a 29-year-old Le Van Thuan opened an emergency exit door and activated the slide to assist a woman with a crying baby exit the aircraft quickly, M&C reported.
Ministry of Transport chief inspector Nguyen Van Hao said the incident would cost the airline up to 10,000 dollars while the passenger would face a fine of up to 15 million dong.
“We are going to ask the government to increase fines to prevent such an incident happening again,” Mr Hao explained.
“Several passengers have been fined for this, but people continue to open emergency doors.”
